Creasing machines form a proper channel in the sheet so it folds cleanly without the printed surface breaking. On digitally printed work, this is the difference between a professional fold and a cracked, flaking spine.
If you print covers, folders, invitations or anything on heavier or coated stock, creasing is not an optional refinement — it is the step that makes the fold acceptable.
What we stock
We carry the Count AccuCreaser, the EZCreaser, and the iCrease Pro+, which combines creasing with perforating. The AccuCreaser is also available paired with the KF-200 knife folder as a combined creasing and folding unit. Perforating blades and complete score assemblies are stocked under Supplies.
How to choose
- Stock weight — Heavier and coated stock needs deeper, more controlled creasing.
- Volume — Occasional covers versus daily production is the main dividing line across this range.
- Combination features — The iCrease Pro+ creases and perforates, which saves a second pass when jobs need both.
- Fold integration — Pairing a creaser with a knife folder removes a handling step between the two operations.
Frequently asked questions
Why does toner crack when I fold without creasing?
Toner sits on the surface of the sheet rather than soaking in. Folding stretches the outer fibers, and the toner layer breaks along the fold. Creasing forms a channel so the fibers fold inward instead of stretching.
What weight of stock needs creasing?
As a rough guide, anything above 170 gsm, plus most coated and digitally printed stock regardless of weight. Below that, a folder alone is usually fine.
Can a creasing machine also perforate?
Yes — the iCrease Pro+ and the AccuCreaser handle both, which is useful for work like tear-off sections on folded documents.
Is creasing the same as scoring?
No. Scoring presses a line into the sheet. Creasing forms a rounded channel that lets the fibers fold properly. For digital print, creasing gives a noticeably better result.
