Paper cutters and trimmers are the most-used cutting tools in any office or print room — squaring stock, trimming bleed, cutting down oversized sheets and finishing printed work to size.
The practical decision comes down to three things: how long a cut you need, how many sheets you cut at once, and how often the machine runs.
What we stock
The GreenBoard series runs from 12 inches up to 36 inches, with the 36-inch available with a clamp and as a table kit. The Premier StakCut 715 and 724 handle heavier stacks, the Premier SharpCut T15 covers medium-duty work, and the Polyboard SharpCut P215 suits general trimming. At the top of the range, the 7000E heavy-duty tabletop commercial cutter takes stacks up to roughly 350 sheets of 20 lb bond with a positive clamp and adjustable back gauge.
How to choose
- Cut length — Buy for your largest sheet. Going a size up costs far less than discovering the machine is too small.
- Sheet capacity — A guillotine trimmer handles a modest stack; a stack cutter handles hundreds at once.
- Clamping — Without a clamp the stack shifts mid-cut, which is what causes ragged and out-of-square edges.
- Back gauge — An adjustable back gauge is what makes repeat cuts to the same measurement quick and consistent.
- Safety features — Look for a blade latch that prevents cutting until released, particularly in a shared office.
Frequently asked questions
What size paper trimmer do I need?
Match the cut length to your largest sheet. A 12-inch trimmer handles letter size, 18 inches covers most tabloid work, and 24 to 36-inch models are for large-format and poster stock.
Why does my cut come out crooked?
Nearly always because the stack shifted during the cut. A machine with a positive clamp holds the paper in place, which is the single biggest factor in a clean, square edge.
Can these cut card and photo paper?
Yes, within the machine's rated capacity, though heavier stock reduces the number of sheets you can cut in one pass. Check the stated capacity against the weight you run most.
How long does a blade last?
It depends entirely on volume and stock. Coated and heavier papers dull blades faster than uncoated bond. When cuts start dragging or tearing rather than slicing cleanly, it is time for a replacement.
